Welcome to Abbott's Middle School Distance Learning Page
Dear Abbott Middle School Parents and Guardians,
We are excited to welcome many of our learners to school for in-person instruction beginning Tuesday, January 19th. Teachers who aren’t already working from our school will be back in the building on Jan. 11, getting their classrooms ready.
In-person instruction for those in grades 7 & 8 choosing the Hybrid model will begin coming to the building on Tuesday, Jan. 19.
As a reminder, our model calls for Monday to be online instruction days, with a mix of both synchronous, or live, two-way instruction, and asynchronous, or independent instruction. But there will be several weeks where we have to “shift” the calendar to make equal the number of in-person instruction days our different groups experience. More information on that can be found here on our A/B calendar with shifts noted.
Here are some other important dates with Zoom links:

Friday, Jan. 15: Last day of 1st semester.
During these meetings, we will present important information about our second semester hybrid and online learning schedules. We will also share policies and procedures for those coming to the building for in person learning. A copy of the presentation will also be posted on our website Thursday afternoon.
Many things will look and be different when students come to the building. Furniture has been set up for social distancing in all areas, handwashing stations are on each floor, and we have posted floor stickers and signs with new safety reminders. Parents will also have to self certify students each morning before sending their students to school. Finally, students will be expected to bring their Chromebooks every day and to carry all of their own school supplies. Backpacks are recommended. Students will not be issued lockers at this time.
Whether your child is attending school in person or remaining online through our Distance Learning Model, we’re honored and grateful to work with all of our students and families. Remember that at u-46.org/covid you'll find the latest updates from U-46 administration about Distance Learning, safety measures in schools, technology tutorials, and more.
You are always welcome to call our school’s main office 847-888-5160 with any questions.
Thank you,
Sincerely,
Christine Zugel
