What is PBIS?

  • PBIS teaches students to display good behavior and rewards them when they make good choices. PBIS stands for "Positive Behavior Interventions and Support." Some behavior components of the program include:

     

    • A common approach to discipline
    • Positively stated expectations for all students and staff. 
    • Procedures for teaching expectations
    • Continuum of procedures for encouraging demonstration and maintenance of expectations. 
    • Procedures for monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of the system on a regular basis. 

You Can Use PBIS at Home!

  • Develop a matric that works for your family. 

    Teach children what being respectful, responsible and safe looks like at home.

  • A cool tool is a lesson for PBIS expected behavior. Some examples of Cool Tools are:

    • Remove mud from shoes before entering

    • Report damage or graffiti to your teacher

    • Throw trash away properly

    • No writing supplies


    • Follow arrival procedures when entering and exiting the cafeteria 

    • Use good  table manners

    • Throw all garbage away in containers

    • Leave table and floor clean for others


    • Line up with class quickly and quietly 

    • Arrive to school with a mask 

    • Enter and leave building silently

    • Stay on sidewalk

    • Wipe mud and snow off shoes before entering building

    • Secure breakfast between 8-8:30 am
