U-46 Team Member Joan McDonald-Hill
JOAN MCDONALD-HILL, SCHOOL REGISTERED NURSE AT CHANNING ELEMENTARY
What are some of your daily work responsibilities?
My daily responsibilities include taking care of the physical health of our students: regular visits for daily medications, making sure students are in compliance with health requirements and dispensing band-aids, ice packs, and smiles as needed.
How long have you worked for U-46?
Six years.
What is it like to work for the District where you attended school and from which you graduated and what does it mean to you?
Working for the District gives me a chance to give back and make a difference in the community.
Which U-46 schools did you attend?
Larsen Middle School and Elgin High School.
What year did you graduate from high school?
1978.
What was your favorite subject and why?
Too many years out to remember.
Who was your favorite teacher and why?
Mr. Mott and theatre experiences.
Please share a favorite memory from your time as a student in U-46.
Basketball and football games and being a Maroon: there was lots of school spirit. Mike Alft.
Please share a favorite memory of working in U-46.
My Channing Cheetah family (both students and adults,) we come together and support one another.
Briefly describe your post-secondary college and/or career experience.
Elgin Community College and Lewis University for my BSN.
What important life or academic lesson did you learn in U-46?
That we have the opportunity to make our world a better place
Do you have children attending U-46 schools? If so, which schools?
My son Jordon, is a junior at Larkin High and it was hard for this Elgin Maroon Mom to wear "Royal" for basketball games.
