College Fair Featuring Historically Black Colleges and Universities Being Held in Elgin

U-46 high schoolers are invited to meet representatives from Historically Black Colleges and Universities at a fair on Saturday, Sept. 28 in Building B at Elgin Community College, 1700 Spartan Drive.

This free event is being held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. HBCU representatives and alumni from Alcorn University, Spelman College, Grambling University, South Carolina State University, Morehouse College and more plan to attend to share their experiences and guidance, as well as information about scholarships and community resources.

There will be music, door prizes and raffle giveaways. Students can receive scholarship and transfer information, as well as on-site FAFSA assistance. There will be a live step show and Black Greek Yard Experience, with performances starting at 11:30 a.m. School District U-46 is one of the sponsors of this event, now in its 3rd year. 

ECC will also host a “College Night” on Tuesday, Oct. 1 with presentations at 6:15 p.m. and 7:15 p.m. on choosing a career, researching college options, and how to navigate admission criteria, application processes, and timelines. More info can be found at elgin.edu/collegenight
