High School Magnet Academies to Host Open Houses in September

School District U-46 is preparing to showcase in September its five high school Magnet Academies to middle school students and their families as they start to plan the transition to high school.  

This year, 8th grade students can submit applications for the District’s Magnet Academies starting on Monday, Sept. 9, 2019. Applications are due on or before 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 15.

Because families might be interested in considering more than one Magnet Academy, each is hosting multiple open houses at the following dates and times:

Beacon Academy of Media and Digital Arts at South Elgin High School, 760 E. Main Street, South Elgin - Tuesday, Sept. 17 at 7 p.m. and 8:15 p.m. as well as Thursday, Sept. 19 at 7 p.m. and 8:15 p.m.  

Gifted and Talented Academy at Elgin High School, 1200 Maroon Drive, Elgin - Monday, Sept. 16 at 6 p.m. and 7:15 p.m. as well as Tuesday, Sept. 17 at 7 p.m. and 8:15 p.m.  

Science, Engineering and High Technology Academy at Bartlett High School, 701 Schick Road, Bartlett - Wednesday, Sept. 18 at 7 p.m. and 8:15 p.m. as well as Thursday, Sept. 19 at 7 p.m. and 8:15 p.m. 

Visual and Performing Arts Academy at Larkin High School, 1475 Larkin Ave., Elgin - Monday, Sept. 16 at 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. as well as Tuesday, Sept. 17 at 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. 

World Languages and International Studies Academy at Streamwood High School, 701 W. Schaumburg Road, Streamwood - Monday, Sept. 16 at 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. as well as Wednesday, Sept. 18 at 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
