Securly Online Safety Tools

  • Securly Logo U-46 parents have access to the free and optional Securly Home app, which allows parents to view their child’s internet activity on their District-owned device at any time. Parents can also receive a weekly email from Securly with a snapshot report of their child’s internet activity, which can inspire conversations at home about good digital citizenship. Another feature is the ability to tap the “pause” button to turn on/off internet access for students’ U-46 devices during non-school hours. In other words, this ability to pause the internet does not work during school hours. To learn more, watch this video.

Please note, parents are not required to download the Securly Home app or to follow their children’s activity on District-owned devices, although the students and their parents/guardians bear sole responsibility for exercising appropriate internet guidelines and for abiding by state and federal laws and regulations.

All parents with currently enrolled students have received an email from Securly welcoming them to the Securly Home system. If parents decide to take advantage of this service, they just need to follow the instructions included in that email. The email will include instructions on downloading the Securly app either through the Apple App Store or Google Play. These instructions can also be found here.

The Securly Home service is only tied to a child’s District-issued Chromebook. Please see this helpful FAQ here as well as visual directions here for how to use the Securly Home app. Questions can also be directed to homesupport@securly.com.

Securly Classroom

  • During the school day, U-46 classroom teachers will have access to a service called “Securly Classroom,” that allows educators to view students’ screens to support instruction and direct them to the appropriate academic content.  This tool also allows teachers to communicate with students regarding their internet access and, if necessary, limit access to specified websites.
