The State of Illinois is providing a new, temporary food assistance benefit during the COVID-19 pandemic called Pandemic Electronic Benefits Transfer (P-EBT). This is for students who would have received free or reduced-price school lunches in school, but because of COVID-19 restrictions, they are not receiving these meals during the school day. Each eligible student will receive a “benefits card” in March from the Illinois Department of Human Services, and it can be used to purchase food at any store that accepts SNAP benefits. This virtual Q&A session will provide an overview of the P-EBT plan and help answer questions.
