Assessment is an integral part of the educational process. It allows teachers to determine what and how students are learning. It provides information used to make decisions about teaching individual students as well as broad determinations on the effectiveness of the instructional program in a school and the overall school system.
On our page, you will find the Assessment Survey, which provides an overview of the assessment tools used by the district at different grade levels. These tools help to determine how well our students are learning and ensure all students are being provided with instruction that will develop the skills and knowledge they will need to be successful.
You can also find a list of the state assessments, tests required by the State of Illinois to determine student learning relative to the Illinois Learning Standards. The results give parents, teachers and schools one measure of student learning and school performance. When tests are not mandated by the state the district uses other assessment tools to continue to track student learning. The data is evaluated by the teacher, school and district to guide instruction, curriculum development, professional growth for teachers and school improvement plans.
Multi-Tiered System of Support is an integrated 3-tiered model of support addressing the needs of all students through a coherent continuum of research-based, system-wide practices supporting teaching and learning; academic, social-emotional and behavioral. It is a systematic and prevention-based framework of team-driven data-based problem solving for improving the outcomes of every student through family, school and community partnering in conjunction with the layering of evidence-based practices at the classroom, school and district level.
This 3-tiered model provides differentiated core instruction delivered with fidelity as the solid instructional foundation received by all students. Students that are not responding to high quality core instruction and supports are provided targeted intervention to address their identified needs. The Five Essential Components, which form a foundation for creating a sustainable system of supports are:
