Welcome to Career and Technical Education
-
Career and Technical Education provides relevant learning opportunities that prepare all students for post-secondary education and future careers. The aim of Career and Technical Education (CTE) is to provide guidance and learning opportunities that help students plan their future. The focus of instruction is to create an understanding of the relationship between core academics and specific technical skill development.
Sequential, engaged, student-centered curriculum empowers students to integrate academic and technical knowledge. They also develop skills needed to prepare for post-secondary education and future careers. Career and Technical Education is competency-based, applied, integrated learning that focuses on developing literacy, math, science, technology, critical thinking, problem solving and teamwork skills.
Through CTE courses students are introduced to various career opportunities and have opportunities to practice workplace skills in entrepreneurial simulations, internships and work experiences. Professional certifications and articulated college credit can be earned in all Career and Technical Education curricular areas. Co-curricular student organizations offer competitive program related opportunities that provide access to educational scholarships and leadership roles at local, regional and national levels.
Course sequences are offered in the following areas:
- Business Education
- Career Education
- Family and Consumer Science
- Health Care Science
