Message about PSAT/NMSQT on Oct. 12, 2022 - Freshmen
Oct. 4, 2022
Dear U-46 Freshmen and Parents/Guardians of Freshmen:
On Wednesday, Oct. 12, all U-46 freshmen will take the school day PSAT 8/9. This assessment provides students with feedback through the student’s College Board account regarding areas of strength and growth as students prepare for the required SAT test in the spring of their junior year.
All freshmen have been registered for the exam and will report to school at their regular time. After students complete the test, they will have an opportunity to eat lunch at school. Once dismissed by their administrators, the students can leave their school campus. Transportation will be provided for students who are eligible at 12:40 p.m. and also at 3 p.m. More information regarding the schedule for the day will be coming from your student’s high school.
Students in specific special education programs: Instructional Learning Program (ILP), Modified Learning Program (MLP), Exceptional Needs (EN1, EN2), and transition, will have a regular school day.
If you have any questions, please contact your school’s associate principal.
Sincerely,
Michele Chapman

Message about PSAT/NMSQT on Oct. 12, 2022 - Seniors
Dear U-46 Seniors and Families of Senior students:
On Wednesday, Oct. 12, all U-46 seniors (12th graders) will not be attending school in person due to testing for our freshmen, sophomores, and juniors. Instead, senior students will be expected to participate in our virtual Post Secondary Fair during the school day. Students in specific special education programs, ILP, MLP, EN1, EN2, and transition, will have a regular school day.
Seniors will receive the Post Secondary Fair information from their high school later this week and should follow the provided links to register for their preferred virtual sessions. While advance registration is preferred, students can sign-up for the sessions up until the start time. Sessions from various colleges and universities, community colleges, trade schools, and military branches will be offered as well as presentations regarding FAFSA, NCAA, and job skills/employment. Families are encouraged to participate in these sessions with their students to learn more.
Student attendance will be taken in the virtual seminars and posted as a field trip. Students who do not participate will be marked as absent.
Students and their families may use this day for post-secondary planning activities. These activities can include in-person college visits, virtual college visits, completion of college applications, completion of college essays, and/or FAFSA completion. Students should also consider looking into military branches, trade schools, and apprenticeship programs, and their application process.
We encourage families to attend Elgin Community College’s College Night from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 12, for another opportunity to explore their college interests.
Seniors can also contact their school counselors for more guidance on how to complete these activities.
If you have any questions, please contact your school’s associate principal or your student’s school counselor.
Sincerely,
Michele Chapman
