World Languages and International Studies Course Requirements

  • Our program emulates the rigorous requirements that top colleges and universities expect from their own students. We prepare our students with a strong background that readies them for college success. Following is the WLIS Academy requirements:

    Foreign Language:

    4 years Honors/AP Level Spanish, Japanese, or Mandarin

    Social Studies:

    1 year AP Human Geography (taught in collaboration with freshmen Honors English)
    1 year AP World History (taught in collaboration with sophomore Honors English
    1 year AP US History
    1 semester AP Comparative Government
    1 semester Honors Economics 


    Language Arts:
    Freshmen Honors English (taught in collaboration with AP Human Geography)

    Sophomore Honors English (taugh in collaboration with AP World History)
    AP English Language and Composition
    AP English Literature and Composition


    Business:
    1 semester Computer Applications

    1 semester Global Marketing
    1 year International Business


    Math:
    3-4 years in comprehensive high school


    Science:
    3-4 years in comprehensive high school


    Physical Education
    3.5 years in comprehensive high school


    Health:
    1 semester in comprehensive high school


    Electives:
    2-3 semesters, student choice
