What is the most important thing you learned in high school?
The most important thing that I've learned in high school is that when in doubt, I should just take a small step ahead but never go back.
What is your favorite high school memory?
My favorite high school memory is the time I got Freshman honors, it was the first time in a long time that my effort was rewarded.
What is your best advice to future first-generation students?
Life is too short to spend it being angry, enjoy every minute of your time in high school, you'll miss it later on.
What is a challenge that you have overcome as a first-generation college student?
One of the challenges that I've overcome as a first-generation college student is college readiness. The lack of familiarity with college and all that it means was definitely a challenge because one doesn't know where to even begin the search for a good college or career. I spent many years wondering how the college system works, how to apply to college, receive financial aid, or choose a major. However, with the help of teachers and counselors I've learned many things that got me where I am right now.
