Nearly 200 U-46 high school students attend an annual Student Summit held at Elgin Community College. The summit was launched by 2016-17 Board of Education Student Advisor Eric Loera and has continued each year since then, with the Board of Education Student Advisor organizing the event.

The purpose of the Student Summit is to promote a unified school culture throughout the District and features roundtable discussions with students from each of the District’s five high schools as well as students from the DREAM Academy. Topics of discussion include academics, community, extracurriculars, and culture. Student facilitators from the CEO Student Advisory Council take notes, keep discussions constructive and positive, and encourage participation at each table. Following the Student Summit, District administrators review the notes and relay information to school administrators. High school principals then conduct a debrief session with their students to discuss what can be implemented at their school
