What school will you be attending in the Fall?
University of Dayton
What Major will you study?
Computer Engineering
What is the most important thing you learned in high school?
It would most likely be learning to manage my workload as far as classes go. Learning to focus on one project at a time while not forgetting to work on others later. It kept me from trying to do everything at once.
What is your favorite high school memory?
It would most likely be just the times I would spend in after-school clubs. It was just a chance to hang out with friends that I wouldn't normally see all the time and do something fun together.
What is your best advice to future first-generation students?
Try to stay focused. It can be pretty difficult when you have several tasks to accomplish, but focusing on them one at a time helps out a lot in the long run.
What is a challenge that you have overcome as a first-generation college student?
One challenge has just been dealing with personal and family issues along with keeping up with school work consistently. It may seem like a simple thing to keep track of at first, but it became a lot more challenging as time went on. I think that I am better for dealing with it all now though.
What does it mean to you to receive the Superintendent’s Scholarship?
It means quite a lot to me. Going to college is a big deal for me because it allows me to go out and do things that I never took the chance to do in high school or before then. Getting through college also means a lot to me because I'll be able to support myself, help my brother, and continue with anything else I want to do in life.
