What is the most important thing you learned in high school?
The most important thing I’ve learned in high school is that a lot of things in life are extra. Instead of always going out and slacking off, focus on your education. Hard work pays off.
What is your favorite high school memory?
My favorite high school memory will have to be meeting the greatest person ever, Kenneth Hall. He was my AP US History teacher and is currently my AP European History teacher. He has the best stories and is the smartest person I’ve met. Meeting him as lead to many great high school memories.
What is your best advice to future first-generation students?
My advice to future first-generation students is to stay on top of your work, be focused, and have a plan. Most people don’t know what they want to do and then it’s too late. Take every opportunity you can take.
What is a challenge that you have overcome as a first-generation college student?
A challenge I have overcome as a first-generation college student during high school will be my homeless. Up until Senior year, I haven’t had a stable home. But now, I will gain my degree and have a better life for myself and my family.
What does it mean to you to receive the Superintendent’s Scholarship?
Receiving the Superintendent Scholarship means that I am another step closer to achieving my dream.
