What is the most important thing you learned in high school?
Being a part of an abundance of school programs and extracurriculars has helped me become a well-rounded individual. It has shown me many aspects of life that I would not have seen otherwise.
What is your favorite high school memory?
Going to band every day made my high school experience an unforgettable one, as I have gained a second family through them.
What is your best advice to future first-generation students?
Future first-generation students should know that they are more than what statistics say that they are.
What is a challenge that you have overcome as a first-generation college student?
Being told that you’re bound to not go to college or graduate college was very upsetting. I have learned that the numbers do not define who I am and my life is not predetermined by a survey.
What does it mean to you to receive the Superintendent’s Scholarship?
Receiving the Superintendent’s Scholarship means, to me, that my hard work and dedication to my education was well worth it and it was well received. Receiving the Superintendent’s Scholarship is a huge stepping stone for my future, and I am extremely grateful to have been chosen to receive this honor.
