University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC)

What is the most important thing you learned in high school?
Self-appreciation; I have learned that it is important for people to give themselves a "pat on the back" once in a while. We shouldn't underestimate ourselves. Everyone should look at how far they have traveled to keep moving forward.
What is your favorite high school memory?
My favorite high school memory was spending three days in Chicago with my friends. From crying after Miss Saigon, to ice skating for the first time, I was able to grow closer to my friends and solidify our relationship.
What was your favorite class or learning experience?
My favorite class was AP US History. I enjoyed how Mr. Devine was able to engage us in historic topics by applying history to the present. I was able to look at history through different perspectives.
What advice would you give to incoming freshmen?
I suggest people to not be afraid to ask for help. Asking for help is not a sign of weakness or unintelligence. Students should not be afraid to use the resources around them.
What or who do you account for your academic success and ranking in the top 2 percent of your senior class?
My parents' support allowed me to focus on my academics and extra-curriculars. Along with my parents, I credit my academy teachers for helping me enjoy my learning. If you love what you do, it won't feel like work at all.
