What is the most important thing you learned in high school?
The most important thing I learned in high school was how to face various obstacles in life. High school is not just a place where you read textbooks all the time. It's the foundation of your future. The many skills and habits that you learn and take on in high school will lead to your eventual success or failure in the future. My experiences in high school have made me the person I am today and prepared me for what's to come later on in college and in life.
What is your favorite high school memory?
My favorite high school memory would most definitely be my 2018 spring break trip to Central Europe. I was able to explore a completely different country and culture with all of my closest friends in the academy. It was a beautiful experience full of memories that I will forever cherish and I'm so grateful to Elgin High for giving me that opportunity.
What was your favorite class or learning experience?
My favorite class would definitely be my AP Chemistry class with Mrs. Grano. Without a doubt, Mrs. Grano was the greatest teacher I have ever had. AP Chemistry was a class that provided the students with a perfect environment to succeed. One where a student was never stressed, confused, or pressured. Mrs. Grano created a curriculum where students could experience both rigor and lightheartedness in a classroom. I enjoyed going to her class every day even if it was a whole period and a half. It was that enriching of a class.
What advice would you give to incoming freshmen?
Take advantage of every opportunity given to you! Elgin High provides everything you need to succeed. I was once a shy kid, but I've learned how important it is to get out of your comfort zone. Never be afraid to join clubs, play sports, ask questions or get some help from the various resources provided to you. You'll be a senior before you even know it, so take advantage of everything that comes your way.
What or who do you account for your academic success and ranking in the top 2 percent of your senior class?
My academic success and ranking in the top 2 percent of my senior class are all credited to my family and teachers, both full of people who endlessly support me with everything I do. I am proud of myself for working hard and staying dedicated to my education, but I owe it all to my family and teachers. I thank my parents for instilling values in me such as compassion, effort, and education throughout my life and I thank my teachers for always putting their students first and providing me with endless opportunities to succeed in my academics.
