What school will you be attending in the fall?
University of Illinois
What Major will you study?
Undecided
What is the most important thing you learned in high school?
Take time to be in the moment, you can't change the past.
What is your favorite high school memory?
During high school, I had the chance to be a part of the Royal Speech team. My freshman year, someone told me that the first time I got up to go to a tournament, (bright and early at about 4:15 AM) I would wonder why I would have ever pushed myself to get up that early. But by the end of the day, I would be hooked. Four years later, my favorite high school memory is standing up on the stage at DeKalb as I looked out on my team and being so grateful for the experience I had.
What was your favorite class or learning experience?
This year, I took AP European History, and I don't regret it. In the class, we learn from a dedicated, experienced teacher who enlightens us on subjects of art, history, and culture within not only historical Europe, but modern Europe as well. Every Friday our class takes the time to learn about different European philosophers, discussing metaphysics, Freudian ideas, and more. I enjoy pushing myself to think about my way of life in different perspectives, even if at some points it may be difficult.
What advice would you give to incoming freshmen?
To Freshman: get involved in things you are interested in and your time in high school will fly by. For me at least, being busier helps me schedule, so get involved but don't neglect your work.
What or who do you account for your academic success and ranking in the top 2 percent of your senior class?
I would account my academic performance to my internal drive to succeed.
