What school will you be attending in the fall?
Bowdoin College

What is the most important thing you learned in high school?
That it's okay to not be perfect all the time. People will still care about me even if I mess up sometimes, so there's no need to put a ton of pressure on myself. School can be stressful, so I've realized how important it is to make room for happiness on my priorities list.

What is your favorite high school memory?
Overall, performing with the band (I can't pick just one concert or game!). It was amazing seeing how much everyone grew and improved over time, making close friends, and playing a bunch of fun music. Marching band is probably the thing I'll miss the most about high school.

What was your favorite class or learning experience?
Taking an independent study of AP European History. Having a self-paced class was hard at first, but in the end I became much better at time management and more responsible overall. It was wonderful to have an opportunity to delve deeper into a subject I love!

Share your best advice for incoming freshmen.
Be supportive of the people around you and don't be afraid to stand up for yourself if the environment around you seems unfair. Your voice deserves to be heard, your problems matter. You matter.

What or who do you account for your academic success and ranking in the top 2 percent of your senior class?
My parents have always been incredibly supportive of my education. They and many of my teachers went out of their way to help me get extra study resources. I also want to thank my counselor, Ms. Phillips, for always being super kind and helping me navigate the most frustrating parts of high school.

What are you learning about yourself and the world as we collectively face this global pandemic?
I think the pandemic has shown the importance to value everyone in society - from the healthcare workers on the frontlines, to the cashiers and manufacturers that are the backbone of the economy, to the artists and musicians that bring the nation hope. Everyone deserves respect. I hope our society maintains this respect when we come out the other end of this pandemic.
