• Theatre

    Students in grades nine through twelve have several elective theatre course options available to them in High School.

    The Theatre Experience:  The Theatre Experience is a semester long course that can be taken by all high school students.  This course is recommended for the student who may have an interest in acting on stage and/or working behind the scene/backstage.  This course is powerful for the student who is interested in theatre and performance.  Students develop basic performance and technical skills, and an appreciation for all aspects of the theatre.

     

    Actor’s Workshop:  Actor’s Workshop is a semester long course that can be taken by all high school students.  Students may choose to retake this course for credit and the curriculum frameworks provide support on how to differentiate for repeat enrollments.  This course is recommended for the student who has an interest in learning the basics of acting and stage performance.  This course is powerful for the student who enjoys performing, speaking, and creating.  Students develop confidence, poise and professionalism that will promote success in any career.

     

    Advanced Theatre Production:  Advanced Theatre Production is a yearlong course that can be taken by students who have successfully completed The Theatre Experience and/or Actor’s Workshop course(s), or teacher recommendation.  This course is for the student who has an interest in acting, directing, and/or technical designing.  Students will explore the principles of a variety of theatre styles and genres, acting techniques and technical elements.  Students in this course will produce two shows.  This course is powerful for students who have a passion for theatre.  Students will experience all aspects of the theatre.
