Middle School: Seventh/Eighth Grade
Students in seventh and eighth grade have several options for studying music in Middle School.
Band and Orchestra are year-long elective courses available to students who have previously studied a band or orchestra instrument. Students interested in joining band or orchestra for the first time may do so at the discretion of the director. Students in the middle school band or orchestra will continue their technical and musical development through preformance-based activities designed to challenge and encourage musical growth. All students who have begun to learn an instrument in elementary school are encouraged to continue that development through middle and high school.
Chorus is available to any seventh or eighth grade student as a year-long elective course. No previous experience is necessary! Students in chorus will develop aural and musical skill through the instruction of music-reading, performance preparation, and other interactive performance-based activities designed to encourage musical growth.
